About Steve:

Steve completed his first triathlon in 1988.  Since then, he has finished well-over 150 endurance events, including six Boston Marathons, Ironman Lake Placid (2000), and Ironman Hawaii (2003), as well as numerous half-Ironman and Olympic-distance events.

A USAT-certified coach since 1999, Steve became involved in USAT’s first Olympic-era elite development programs when he was appointed Regional Athlete Development Coordinator for New England in 2000.  That same year he founded one the first triathlon junior development teams in the United States, today known as Vortex Racing.  Through these efforts, Steve has helped identify and advise Olympians and Olympic-hopefuls, National and World Champions, and multiple national team members.  He has twice served as coach of USA Triathlon’s Collegiate Triathlon World Championship team, which won three medals in 2008.  In 2002 and 2004, the United States Olympic Committee recognized Steve as Developmental Coach of the Year for Triathlon for his contribution to the sport.

After many years of coaching triathlete's independently, Steve was drawn to QT2 Systems after witnessing first-hand the transformation of two of his frequent training partners, Tim and Cait Snow.  Steve aims to combine his understanding of the needs of developmental elite triathletes with QT2’s finely-tuned approach to optimizing athlete performance.

When not coaching with QT2 Systems, Steve is a teacher in Easton, MA, where he resides with his wife, Kati, and two young daughters, Ava and Emily.  He also continues in his role as USAT’s Athlete Development Coordinator, managing national-level talent identification programs.  In addition to triathlon, Steve enjoys racing cyclocross and is learning the sport of winter triathlon.
