In 2003 Michelle completed her first Boston Marathon and became hooked on endurance races. She has since completed the New York City, San Diego Rock and Roll, Philly, Chicago, Marine Corps, and Baystate marathons, as well as a second Boston Marathon. As a passionate distance runner her goal was to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Marathon training was a long road, as she sustained several stress fractures along the way. Concluding that running every day wasn't in her best interest, she took up indoor cycling in 2005 and later obtained her certification to teach Spin. After teaching countless cycle classes, she started biking outdoors and raced a few sprint triathlons for fun during the 2006 season. Michelle took a liking to triathlon, and in 2007 Michelle completed her first Olympic and Half Ironman distance races. Since her start in triathlon, she has competed in several short course and long course triathlons, including 4 Ironman distance races- Arizona 2008, Lake Placid 2010, and Kona 2009 & 2010. Michelle began as an athlete with QT2 in 2007 under the guidance of Coach Jesse, as she become more serious about her training and race performances. After following the QT2 protocol, in 2008 Michelle finished the Boston Marathon in a time of 3:19 (PR), went on to win Spring Fling Sprint Triathlon (57:26), and placed 3rd overall at the Pumpkinman Half (4:45:47, PR). The highlight of her season was finishing 3rd in her age group at the November Ironman Arizona in 10:29:55 (first IM). This performance earned her a Kona slot for 2009. Michelle went on to have a solid year in 2009; culminating the season with an 11:00:08 finish at Ironman World Championships, placing 21st in her AG. Her 2010 seasons was also quite successful, as she completed IM Lake Placid with a 2nd place AG finish (10:43:22), awarding her a Kona slot for 2010! In 2011, after competing in a few early season races, including San Juan 70.3 and Boston Marathon, Michelle took the season off to move out to southern California. Her 2012 season kicked off with a few local races, Oceanside 70.3, and a 10:54 finish at IM Texas. Michelle is topping off her 2012 season with Orangeman 70.3 and IM Florida! Michelle has an extreme passion for endurance sports. She has complete confidence in the QT2 training protocol given the significant improvement of her marathon and triathlon performances, along with countless PR's over the recent past. Michelle currently races on the QT2 Age Group Elite Team and is interested in helping athletes succeed in endurance sports. She plans to use her race experience and the proven QT2 protocol to empower the triathletes she works with. Michelle has found with a little hard work, determination, and the right training program, one can make tremendous strides in endurance sports. |
