QT2 Systems Athletes Kick off the 2014 Season at Texas 70.3!

April 12, 2014

The Memorial Hermann Ironman 70.3 Texas is historically one of the early season tests for QT2 athletes who have spent the previous five months enduring hours and many miles on their indoor trainers. This year was no different!  Nearly 30 QT2 athletes lined up for the start of the April 6th race.  Unlike previous years, the conditions on race day were practically ideal. Cool and overcast skies, combined with significant winds, made for a less than ideal first leg of the swim but an extremely fast bike segment. By the time the athletes hit T2, heading out onto to the run, the only thing standing in their way was a bit of humidity.  But, even that wasn’t enough. In addition, we once again debuted our brand new race kits for 2014 courtesy of Pearl Izumi!

A Glimpse Into the QT2 Florida PRO Camp

March 17, 2014

Another very important aspect of being a pro is the ability to handle adversity – adversity comes in many forms. On race day there is always adversity, whether it’s dropped nutrition or a crash or a mechanical – how the athlete handles this mentally is always key to their success on race day. Being able to stay calm and collected when things go wrong takes practice. The QT2 Pro camps take these 2 concepts – professionalism and adversity training, and forces the athletes to address these things continuously every day for 17 days. The training they will endure will be some of the hardest they will face in their lives.  These athletes were training up around 30-40 hours a week which was roughly 25-35,000 yards of swimming, ~375-450 miles on the bike, and 40-60 run miles depending on the athlete.
