Karen Allen-Turner

QT2 Level 2 Coach

Karen is a former Physical Education teacher and Business Consultant with a MBA and has been involved in the sport of Triathlon as both a participant and coach since 1986.

As a regular national presenter for the USAT coaching certification program, Karen's ability to draw on her many years of coaching experience and ongoing quest to expand her understanding of the sport provides a valuable resource to new and experienced coaches alike. For her athletes, the combination of her analytical approach, teaching methods and her ability to look at each athlete as an individual with unique needs has lead to her success as a coach.

As an athlete, Karen has raced all triathlon distances and having participated in many races in both Australia (her native country) and the United States (her adopted country), Karen has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with fellow athletes. While coaching is Karen's main focus, Karen has represented the USA at the Worlds in both the Sprint and Olympic distances, and continues to participate in the occasional long course event having recently competed in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. In 2016 Karen was also selected as the USA Team Coach for the ITU Age Group World Championships in Cozumel, Mexico.

Karen has spent many years studying and researching the trends in the sport, and subsequently trialed many of them. As a long-time athlete, she can appreciate what work must be done but more importantly, as a coach she feels she can recognize how best to do it. Using proven qualitative and quantitative protocols for each individual in a systematic and progressive approach are the keys to accomplishment!  Karen has coached many athletes to success including the coaching of athletes to National and World Championships and also to the World Ironman and Half Ironman Championships.

Prior to joining the QT2 Systems coaching staff, Karen was the owner of The Right Fit MultiSports. When not coaching, Karen enjoys spending her time trail running, x-country skiing and mountain biking on her 160 acre Upstate NY family farm  with her husband and three young sons. Being the mom to three very young (and active) sons, she also understands what it takes for parents wishing to achieve their own goals and successes while raising a family.

Karen's main goals now in the sport of triathlon are to coach, educate and train others to achieve the best out of themselves. So, whether your goal is to prepare and participate in your first race, complete an ironman, or race to a victory, Karen can make your journey an enjoyable and successful one.
