Ironman Lake Placid Weekend Recap

To all of our athletes, sponsors, coaches, and staff: We would like to say a big THANK YOU for your effort and your support to make last weekend, in Lake Placid, NY, a huge success. Not only was it one of our team’s flagship Ironman Races (over 35 athletes from QT2, ORR and Ashpalt Green), we had several other events happening simultaneously, with expo space with FieldWork Nutrition, the QT2 LLC Leadership Bi-Annual Conference, our 2ndAnnual Smashfest Charity Ride benefiting Smile Train, and of course our Pre-Race Breakfast followed by our IMLP Course Overview - which was streamed on Facebook LIVE and open to all athletes racing.  We couldn’t have done it without the support and commitment from YOU – playing an intricate role in our being able to do what we do. And, it does not go unnoticed.  So THANK YOU. Truly.

Here’s the weekend recap:

In its 20th year, Ironman Lake Placid still holds its place as one of the most popular but toughest Ironman courses on the circuit. With a very challenging and technical bike course, a marathon that most athletes fear, and this year some very challenging weather conditions with downpours and spots of hail, IMLP is tailor made for our QT2, ORR and Asphalt Green athletes. We had 37 athletes race, about 15 of which achieved personal best times. Furthermore, we had five of our athletes earn coveted Kona slots, bringing our total count to 22, for October’s IRONMAN World Championship. We are so proud of our athletes - their dedication and their focus.

As it stands, IRONMAN Lake Placid is one of our key races where we have presence. And by presence I mean – you see us everywhere! Not only the 37 athletes racing, but 12 QT2/ORR Staff and Coaches all played a key role in making it a great weekend for the athletes, and their countless number of supporting friends and family members. For as much QT2/ORR gear there was on the course, even more littered the race’s sidelines, on the backs of friends and family. A special thanks to Wattie Ink for, once again, sponsoring the key race breakfast which held about 90 athletes and supporters for the IMLP Course Overview, where we took athletes through the course, race tactics and important facts about the race - both LIVE and virtually LIVE over the Facebook. :)

As many of you know, QT2 Systems, LLC launched The Cycling Formula in 2017, a cycling-specific coaching group and race team founded by cyclists, for cyclists. This year The Cycling Formula presented the second annual Lake Placid Smashfest, an 85 mile grueling, but beautiful, ride in the Adirondacks, benefiting Smile Train, our partner charity. With over 45 riders, and amazing support from sponsors (ie: a grand prize giveaway: a power meter from Pioneer Cycle Sports, NormaTec Recovery Bundles, Klean Athlete Bundles and the ultimate nutrition support from Juice Performer and Gatorade Endurance).  Smashfest represented a great opportunity for QT2, LLC to give back to it’s charity partner, both raising money for children, from third world nations, I need of cleft-palette repair, and awareness to their cause. Keep in mind, and spread the word, that Smile Train still has spots open for 2018’s IRONMAN Arizona, and can help to find spots into just about any sold out IRONMAN event.

Thank you again to all of our athletes, our staff, our supporters, and especially YOU. You help us make it all happen. WE GOT THIS!
