4th Annual Women's Lake Placid Camp Wrap Up

June 08, 2016

The 4th Annual Women's Lake Placid Camp was a huge success. Each year the camp continues to evolve with more expertise offered and opportunities for women to push themselves in a totally supportive and non-threatening environment. As a coach it was so rewarding to watch the participants evolve over the course of 4 days - whether it meant biking further than they have ever done before, conquering hills, riding in a group or running with better form and knowing what to mentally focus on.

All the women were able to walk away with some new found knowledge. Having a team of staff that were there to support everyone really makes a difference. Pam from TriSports was not only able to offer specific hands on advice but also had many years of experience to share. Jackie our other ORR coach also was able to offer great knowledge and encouragement to everyone and of course we had MJ our Chef and Coach and Lynn her assistant also feeding people (probably the most important job) and also providing hands on bike support. It was so nice to have healthy, nutritious meals waiting for everyone before the start of training and when we got back. Not to forget, Tiffany and Suzie from Syracuse Metta Massage who offered massage around the clock. The workshops that included fueling for racing, importance of aerobic training, gear essentials, menopause and the female athlete, taping and stretching techniques all proved valuable with takeaways for all.

Finally, not to forget our great sponsors who supplied fabulous swag for all - they included KLEAN Athlete, PowerBar, BASE, TriSports, Normatec and Fuel for Fire. This years camp was such a hit that discussion is already underway to run  winter camp in Florida early next year.
